stuck with maintenance page after failed plugin upgrade

  • Hi,

    I tried to upgrade the AdevrtisingManager plugin which resulted in failure with an absurd notification “could not create directory . /public_html” or something like that. I would not mind that, for I never actually used that plugin. However, now I (and nobody else) can access my blog. We are redirected to the maintenance page. Please, what should I do?

    Oops sorry, I was able to log into the blog from another browser window.

    Now perhaps the question remains why the AdvertismentManager upgrade fails. I set the permissions for plugins snd plugins/AdvertismentManager directories to 777. Anything else is required?

    This is the error message: An error occured while updating Advertising Manager: Could not create directory. /public_html.

    P.S. Of course I got back to the maintenance page after the new attempt of upgrade. I see, it reverts to normal login a while after a failed upgraded. Very clecver, although unnerving at first.
