Server ERROR 500. Unable to “update” on FRONT PAGE only

    Hello, I am not being able to save changes in my main FRONT PAGE. On other pages there is no problem at all, but when trying to edit and “update” the FRONT PAGE, it will not let me save changes: SERVER ERROR (500 ERROR)

    I have bee trying to solve it by reading other threads but as I don′t know about programming, I can′t really understand what they are talking about.

    My Hosting (HotGator) already increased the PHP memory limit.

    If the 500 error happens only on specific pages please do the following:

      Go to the page with the error.
      Click on the arrow next to the Update/Publish button.
      Choose to Save as Template and give it a name.
      Open a new page and click on Add template.
      Click My Templates and click Import next to the template you saved earlier.
      Contact your hosting provider and ask them to increase your WordPress memory limit.

    You can also check this guide, this guide is also relevant if the issue is with a template, the only change is you will need to open a blank template instead of a new page.

    I think its solved! I just had to replace the old main front page, for the new one that I imported from the template… Guess that′s all…

    But I don′t know why this happened in the first place… why may that original Front Page may have become corrupted…?

    Hi, I am glad it is resolved!

    Very often, this happens due to lack of memory, however, there are other circumstances that could cause this, and only the server logs can point to the exact reason. You can ask your hosting company to send you the PHP error logs of your server. It might be also caused by too many revisions on the page.
