    Hi,

I have a strange issue that no meta description data is showing in Google results. All my pages have descriptions defined and it was working fine. However, I asked Google to reindex the site yesterday and now no meta description on any of the pages listed in Google’s results.

I have checked that the code exists on the pages and used tools to verify that the meta data is correct: https://www.heymeta.com/url/tentandtrail.com/url/url//tentandtrail.com/roof-tents

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Chris

    Hello Chris,

Thanks for reaching out regarding your meta description.

Taking https://tentandtrail.com/roof-tents/ as an example, the meta description is present in the page source:

<meta name="description" content="Super quality UK roof tents for cars & vans. Fits almost any car, 100% weatherproof, quick setup, free delivery, camping in style & comfort." />

A search on Google shows the same description is present. See screenshot.

Can you provide a couple of pages where you experience missing meta descriptions in Google search results?

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Hi,

Yes, it’s odd. So it looks like some of the meta-data has returned but there are still pages where the meta-data isn’t showing. See screenshot.

All these pages have meta – descriptions defined but not showing anything. I will try getting the site reindexed again, resolve the lack of metadata. It doesn’t explain why they all disappeared for a period of time?

    Thanks.

    Hi @chrismartins29

We’re not exactly sure why it’s showing a blank meta description in the SERPs but when checking the page source of your contact page, it looks like the meta description tag itself is in line 152 in the <head> section. We’re not sure if it’s directly related, but you may want to try moving it up closer to the first few lines and see if this helps when you request for indexing in Google Search Console (as this is sometimes the case for the Facebook crawler being unable to detect some of the tags).
