    Hello,

Since the last plugin update, Google is giving me errors on my FAQ pages:

Invalid object type for field ‘mainEntity’

Reporting the issue for fixing…. thanks.

  • Same here, after the update. I am getting the same error message when Google Search tries to spider the FAQ pages.

Invalid object type for field “mainEntity”

Wanted to confirm we are seeing the same thing.

    Hi!
I’m facing the same issue from last 2-3 days. I have already contacted the plugin support through email but got not reply.

Google search console is showing error for an individual FAQ like

    https://raachotrekkers.com/ufaqs/what-to-pack-for-spiti-valley/

And also for landing pages like

    https://raachotrekkers.com/spiti-valley-tour-package/

    Please help.

I’m getting the same error on 3 of my FAQs, also after the update to v 2.1.10

When I look on Google Search Console it shows this:

    Supported types: [https://schema.org/Question]

but it looks like the type of the FAQ is “Answer”

I don’t know what this means, so not sure if this helps.

Also, I don’t know why it’s doing it only on 3 FAQs

    Hello all,

Thanks for reporting this. We’ve identified the issue (it’s related to the fix in the previous update for the Gutenberg block code being output in the schema) and are in the process of testing a fix. We should be able to release an update tomorrow for this.

In the meantime, if you wish, you can roll back the plugin to the previous version and that should remove the warning about the invalid schema. Or you can temporarily turn off the structured data (the “Disable microdata” option in the Basic area of the Settings page) until the new update is released.

We’ve just released an update (version 2.1.11) with the fix.

Thank you for the information, I will update today.

    Hi

I updated the plugin right away and today I have a Google email (from Friday 3/4/22) about errors detected after the update, errors from March 3 and 5.
I ran a validation fix on the previous error and although it’s not done, it’s showing as “Looking Good”

But the two new errors are:
    – Missing field “mainEntity”
    – Duplicate field “FAQPage”

    Thanks

    Hello moraima4,

Would you be able to provide a URL to your FAQ page so we can check it out? This could be an issue specific to your WordPress site and we would like to validate that by reviewing the HTML. From there, we can see how to go about it.

    Hi @jaysupport @jssupport
I received the same error Invalid object type for field ‘mainEntity’ from Google Search Console Team on Fri 4th March 22 which is after the FAQ plugin was updated to v2.1.11 on 1st March 21.
    My FAQ page is https://www.paullong.net/faq/

    Thanks, Paul

Hello moraima4, The Rich Tests Result isn’t displaying any warnings or errors for me, here’s a link to the results page for your reference: https://search.google.com/test/rich-results/result?id=xXHcqHvkbyxXaIC3bgt-ZQ.

Hello paul, I don’t see any warnings or errors for your page as well: https://search.google.com/test/rich-results/result?id=7JjaB01MmfIOZ3Nenq4vaw

More detail on the issue you are facing will be helpful.

    Hi @jssupport
ok I looked into it more and it looks like it’s giving the two errors

    -Duplicate field “FAQPage”
    -Missing field “mainEntity”

on both of these FAQ individual pages, even though I don’t use each question as a separate page, so I don’t know why only here.

If I click on them it shows the code, not sure if you want me to provide you with that.

The Google Search Console gives me a chance to “Validate Fix” but when I try that it comes back saying:

    “Cannot continue validation process
Affected pages were found. Fix the issue and run validation again”

Honestly I don’t even know how big of a problem this really is.

    Hello moraima4,

Thank you for providing that additional information. According to the HTML source code, your Yoast SEO plugin is adding a second FAQPage schema to that page. As a test, could you disable that plugin and run the Validate Fix option again? Did it make a difference?

    Hi

Ok so based on this information you provided I went and checked into the Yoast plugin, before I disable the whole plugin to run the validation I changed some Yoast setting on these two pages only and ran the Validate Fix option again for both errors and at least this time it started the validation, it didn’t show the initial message “Cannot continue validation process”.
These validations take days so now I will wait but at least it’s a good sign that it let me started.
Thank you so much for catching that the issue now is with the Yoast plugin.
