I have just updated The Events Calendar Plugin. Afterwards, I got this message –
It looks like The Events Calendar plugin is not currently active.

Please install The Events Calendar by Modern Tribe to get started with your registrations.

When I got to Add New plugin and install, the install fails with the message “Installation failed: Destination folder already exists.”

What needs to be done to fix this? I have events set up.

Why does the plugin disappear after an update? This is not the first time its happened with the events calendar. Its the one gripe I have about this plugin. Having to reload it. Usually its not a problem.

    Hi there,

That “Installation failed: Destination folder already exists.” error is something that happens on the WordPress itself, not being caused directly by a specific plugin.

The error is due to WordPress asking your server to extract the plugin or theme’s .zip file to folder with the same name as the archive file. It may be possible that the particular file that you are downloading at the moment must have been interrupted.

When the error occurs, you’ll find the plugin or theme installation terminates. To resolve the issue, the first step is to check to see if the theme or plugin is already installed. If so, a folder will already exist on your server, which will cause the error.

You can delete the plugin folder via FTP or your server File manager dashboard and install the plugin again.

    Hi @robyn2020,

Since we haven’t heard from you in a while on this topic we will assume that the problem was fixed or is no longer applicable and with that I will mark this as resolved.

If that is not the case, please let me know and I will gladly remove the “Resolved” tag and try to help you further. Or you can create a new topic with the problem if you prefer.

    Best Regards,
