I have two websites, where one is the Primary domain, and the other is an Addon domain. I am having issues with a theme I installed for the Addon domain (likely created by me not knowing what I was doing), and want to do a clean re-install of that theme (and possibly any associated plug-ins) without preserving any of the previous configurations and settings. In other words, I need to wipe the slate clean and start over with a completely clean copy of the theme. What is the best method for doing that? It seems I need to do more than uninstall and reinstall the theme. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi @ldstuart56

The easiest way is to delete the wp-config.php file of the site you want to reinstall.

That way, all your files will be intact, but you can rerun the wp installation wizard.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi @jndungu

Thanks for your reply. I’m not sure what you mean by “all your files will be intact”. I thought I read somewhere that for a clean re-install, one would have to remove the wp-admin, wp-content, and wp-includes folders from within cPanel File Manager. Although I have not tried that yet, if I understand correctly, removing those folders will allow me to re-install wp as well as the themes and plug-ins. Does that sound correct?
