• First of all, thanks for creating such a fast theme. However, still some minor issues I’d like to see corrected. One of them is I still get the “Ensure text remains visible during webfont load” error when testing in Google and I’d like to see font-display:swap; or similar to allow this error to go away.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hey, thanks for reaching out and apologies for the delay in response.

Can you please break down in detail how we can reproduce this error? I tested and am unable to get it to happen on my site.

Thanks in advance for any additional information!

    Best,
    Kevin

Hi, Just a note to add Kadence does load fonts with font-display:swap. If you are getting something different it’s likely from an optimization plugin that is taking over google font loading.

So I just did another Google audit and I still see the error Ensure text remains visible during webfont load for https://stoptrashingourplanet.org/ Google recommends “Leverage the font-display CSS feature to ensure text is user-visible while webfonts are loading.” for two woff2 files coming from Google I selected in the theme customizer. So something’s not quite right.

I’m using Swift Performance Lite for caching. I did deactivate it and the above error went away but “Enable text compression” took its place.

I suggest talking with the authors at Swift Performance about how you can either prevent them from changing the google font loading or since they seem to be overriding it how you can enable swap when they take it over.
