Idea for Email Alerts

    Hey Opa, I wanted to ask you about a variant of the email notifications. I figured the old topic was ‘solved’ and this was more of an idea/request sooooooooooo…. haha

    The thing I am wondering is “Can there be some sort of email alert for subscribers when the admin adds or updates photos to an album that doesn’t overload the inbox of the user?” Technically, I know the answer is yes but let me be more specific.

    I have a lot of users that only show up at my site to see the latest images. The problem I am looking to address is somehow getting the people that WANT notifications some alert to new art in the galleries. I get people probably don’t want 400 notification mails but maybe something like a daily or half daily update that says:

    “GALLERY NAME has had (Number of images) added”
    or
    “GALLERY NAME has had (Number of images) updated”

    If the number of images is an issue perhaps

    “GALLERY NAME has had images added”

    or something along those lines. I have situations where I upload 2 or 3 images and other days where I do hundreds of updates and adds in one hour.

    THIS IS ALL JUST IDEAS at this point. It’s certainly not a must have as much as a ‘would be nice’. Your email setup is such a good idea and I feel people would love notices when me (the Admin) drops in new stuff – at least in my situation!

    Thanks Opa, as I mentioned. This is a LOW priority of course.

    At the moment, I am exploring alternates like creating some sort of self hosted newsletter people can opt-in to and receive gallery updates.

    That said – I still feel your update mails are superior than that in many ways. They are simple and to the point with a very easy unsubscribe feature. Most people are looking for just that (which is what I would prefer if I was the customer).
