• Hi –
I just installed a plug-in called FAQ – You. I understand how to create the Q & A for the FAQ’s but can’t figure out the most basic step — how to get the completed FAQs to appear on an existing page of my blog. Here’s what the plug-in’s site tells me to do (below in bold). Can someone break this down into much smaller steps for a tech-newbie?

    Thank you!

    How to use
Create some questions and add this to a page with the WYSIWYG editor.

You can also use a shortcode: [faq id=”1″]

Easy to style with CSS and you can use JavaScript or turn it off.

This is a shortcode, you just paste it right into your page or post, like this.

    jleuze:

Two questions (again, keep in mind that this stuff is SO not my area).

First, I can’t seem to find anywhere in the Plugin or in Settings where I originally assigned an id for my FAQ’s so that I can now try pasting it on the page. I searched and searched and even deleted the Plugin and re-installed hoping to find some prompt that would lead me to that original id (or the chance to create a new one) but no luck. Any thoughts on how to retrieve it?

Second, just to test out this whole shortcode thing, I saw another place in the Plugin where it gives that bracketed code and says, just paste on the page to create such and such. So I copied it with my browser and pasted it on a page, then updated and looked at the page live on the blog. But all I saw was the bracketed code itself. Not the button or tool that was supposed to be created with the code.

Is it literally, copy and paste onto a page? Or am I missing something?

Thanks for taking pity on a complete neophyte! ??

This plugin adds a button right to the visual editor, it looks like a question mark.

Or to use the shortcode, just go to the FAQ category page, and hover over a category, the ID is right in the URL of the category link.

You can just paste the shortcodes right into your content, WordPress will replace it with the right code when it renders that page.

Finally found the question mark! Thank you for the handholding.

    No problem at all.
