    Hi everyone,
This is my first time i post in this WordPress forum despite using WordPress for many years. So i am excited about the answers from you people!

My problem is, when i use custom permalinks, website slows down, take up to 30 seconds to load fully. Website even throws database connection error on random times. When i revert back to default, website speed gets back to normal. This is the first time i have ever encontered a problem like this. Website runs on a Windows hosting with a current PHP version. But i don’t think Windows server might be the problem.

If it helps, i would like to let you know people, i migrate my website from another domain, which runs on the same server, but i got no problem with updating permalinks there at all.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello. ??

I ran across an article where someone else was surprised by a similar problem. What he learned (and I’m summarizing) is that using a word (his was %post_name%) causes WordPress to create extra rules to help it figure out if it’s a page or a post. And it’s most noticeable on a site with 50+ pages.

The answer seems to be to either use a numeric slug or to use BOTH a word and a number. There’s more information about that here.

    Hope this helps!

This is not typically a WordPress issue, it’s more often an issue with your host / server.

Have a look here on how you can increased allocated memory:

    or here:

@mysweetcate thank you mate. i already read the article before writing here. Kinda old one but still useful. However, my problem isn’t gone.

I have found out all the trouble triggered by my theme’s included core plugin, which theme creators says that it is a must for the theme working correctly. When i deactivate that plugin, website speed dramatically increases. I don’t see why this core plugin has got something to do with permalinks, but this core plugin doesn’t seems to like custom permalinks anyway. I also suspect that core plugin doesn’t like the plugin called Classic Editor created by WordPress staff. I deactivated the classic editor and website performs even better! And plus, now my custom permalinks working well with core plugin ??

I solved my problem with trial and error doctrine ??
Thank you for all your valuable answers.
