• Hello WordPress colleagues,

I have an advertiser that would like to take over the background of my site.

In other words, I need to figure out how to create a “clickable background image”.

Moreover, I need to add a pixel tracker to the background, so the advertiser can track views and viewability. The pixel looks something like this:

I already purchased the plug-in “WP Background Takeover” by 99Robots, but they don’t offer the possibility to add a pixel tracker. I contacted them, but they don’t seem to offer support on this issue.

Alternatively, I came across this article (https://mhthemes.com/blog/create-clickable-background-images-wordpress/) that explains how to do it manually, but it doesn’t explain how to add the pixel tracker.

    Any help is welcome ??

  • The “pixel tracker” will be a piece of JavaScript code (to be given by your advertiser) that you’ll insert into your site’s head, just as you insert Google Analytics or any other analytics or advertising tracking code.

The code may have to be integrated with the advertising link to be able to track click events.

    Hello George,

    Thank you for your reply.

Since the pixel tracker is also supposed to track viewability (how many people actually see the ad), I think it should be in the position of the background.

When I put in the header, it will always be triggered, while if I put it in the background, not necessarily, because the browser might for instance be minimised, thus the visitor doesn’t see the background ad.
