    Hi

I just found your plugin and it appears to be amazing. But now that I tried it, most of the files got an error:

A file with that name already exists in the containing folder!

I don’t understand why some got that, and other got renamed fine. Look here at a section of the images after I ran the plugin:

    https://share.getcloudapp.com/OAu4OWJo

I used the setting: Rename and Retitle from post

    Did I miss something?

    Hope you can clarify..

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @niwin,
looking at your screenshot, it seems that Phoenix Media Rename fails when you try to rename many images attached to the same post.

I will try to replicate and address the issue on my development server, but I’m quarantined due to positivity to covid, as soon as I can get back to work I’ll check this issue.

    Thank you for reporting!

    Hi @niwin,
I’m sorry for the delay, but I’m quarantined at home due to covid infection, I hope to go back to work in a few days.

I’ll let you know as soon as I can reach my development server (it is a local server in my office).

    Hi @niwin,
I’ve made e few test on my development server and everything worked, maybe there is a conflict with seme other plugin.

Can you tell me which active plugin are you using?

A few days ago I released version 3.4.9, can you try it and tell me if the issue persist?

    Thank you

    Thanks!

Could the number of files be an issue? The site I need to run your plugin on has over 8000 images, and I set my screen options to display the maximum 999 images per page, so I don’t need to run the plugin over and over again (only 8 times).

But when I do, problems arrise.

I just tried to only rename the top three files, and it went smoothly withour problem.

Using latest version of the plugin, ofc.

I have also disabled smush and hummingbird, not because I know there are issues with them, but since they handle images, I thought maybe there could be a conflict…

A file with that name already exists in the containing folder!

Why is the plugin not just adding “-1, -2, -3” etc on the new filename, when there is a filename in the folder with the name “taken” from the post, already?

    (@crossi72)

    Hi @niwin,
Phoenix Media Rename adds -1, -2 and so on at the end of the filename if you select more than one file, it is strange that this is not happening on your server.

I’ll check it again in a few days because I’m working on another release (to correct an issue with a wp-cli command).

    Thank you for the update.

    Hi @niwin,
I’m sorry but I’m really busy in these weeks and I’m late with Phoenix Media Rename develpment.

Can you tell me which active plugin are you using, so that I can try to replicate your configuration on my development server?

    Hi @niwin,
    Just a quick update:
I just found a case that trigger your issue: when you select multiple files attached to multiple posts, as shown in your video, it is possible that the issue arises (this is due to the order in which WordPress passes the file to rename to Phoenix Media Rename).

I will start to fix this issue in a few days, now I’m testing a release that address an issue with php 8.
