Hi with a new campaign I had more traffic than usual today, but still was only 4,000 page views according to matomo. My site slowed down and I got a lot of 525s. My web admin said that Matomo was taking up most of the resources. My current server (not shared) is 4.5 GB, 4 CPU, 45 GB SSD.

I have reviewed the tab Troubleshooting at the bottom Performance issues. “On Premise” is not an option. The cron suggestion is not applicable.

    It says on https://matomo.org/docs/optimize-how-to/

    Configure Matomo for speed

By default, Matomo (Piwik) works in real time. But when tracking a large website, It is highly recommended to disable “real time” reports and only process reports for “today” every 1 or 6 hours for example. This way, access to the user interface will only read pre-processed reports.the website you click from there to disable Real Time or set it to 1 hour, but when I follow the clicks, there is never any information how to do this.

The page you click through to https://matomo.org/docs/setup-auto-archiving/ doesn’t have anything about how to do this. I looked around in Settings in the plugin and on the account page and can’t find anything when searching on “Real Time” or “real-time” besides the Real Time results.

Is this deprecated? Is there something else I can do? The only setting I have enabled on the main settings page in the plugin is ecommerce. Everything else is unchecked or left as Default. see ss here: https://www.screencast.com/t/3ZHW1e30hJzq

  • Hi @eftcolumbus

Please accept our apologies for this late reply.

With the wordpress plugin the archiving is automatically processed by default with the wp-cron schedule task. This is why the option to configure the auto archiving is hidden.

Your configuration seems enough to support matomo without problems. When you says that your web admin told you that matomo uses all your ressources, can you detail a bit more? is it the database? a php script which uses all your ressources? Which indicator do you use to monitor the performances?

    Kind regards

    Mat

Sorry, I never got notification of the first response, but did this second one.

    They had told me:

I am showing most of the usage is coming from this script:

    /wp-content/plugins/matomo/app/matomo.php

    Hi @eftcolumbus

the matomo.php file is the tracker and use very low resources.
Maybe you have a crontab which execute at the same time?
Could you try to disable the wp-cron in your wp-config.php file by adding the line

    define(‘DISABLE_WP_CRON’, ‘true’);

and set up a crontab which call hourly the wp-cron file?

    Kind regards
