I don’t think there is a WooCommerce plugin that exists that knows how to calculate UPS shipping costs for a website’s products without having to manually define the product weight, height, length, and width. A client’s partner’s friend is an “IT guy” says that it’s easy to get a product’s shipping price with WooCommerce. I don’t think that is possible because how can a plugin guess the dimensions of your products? Maybe I’m missing something, but I don’t think I am.

    Thoughts?

    Hi @mrtechnique,

I love the title of this thread. You’re absolutely right too. In order to get accurate shipping rates, the dimensions and weight of each package will be required.

If the merchant only sells very small items, they might be able to get away with using a small default value for these. If they have any items that are larger, the exact measurements will be necessary otherwise their rates will be inaccurate.

If this IT guy has a way to get accurate rates without dimensions, they should definitely code it into a plugin.

    Cheers

Ha ha! Thank you for confirming what I thought. I have no idea how a plugin can accurately calculate shipping rates without any knowledge of the products’ weight and size dimensions.
