Subscription Form Keeps Asking Members To Log In

    Hello dear all,

    Firstly, I would like to thank the amazing staff of MailPoet for making this plugin a reality and give away full features for FREE.

    I have put a subscription form on the sidebar of my blog.

    After user fills out the form and clicks “Subscribe”, a pop up pops up telling them to sign in. How can I enable users to not see this message and be able to subscribe and get the confirmation link in their email?

    Thank you very much. I hope there is a setting for this because I don’t have a Sign Up page unless a person buys and signs up at checkout.

    Hi @ohyeahdesigns,

    I’m checking your website and I can see the login protection showing up after trying to subscribe through your sidebar subscription form.

    Please note this is not a part of the MailPoet’s settings and there’s no way to disable it via our plugin.

    This seems to be related to a different security plugin you have installed or any other protection you’ve enabled for your website.

    Can you please check it with your host or by looking at the plugins you have listed as active in the WordPress dashboard > Plugins page?

    Hi there,

    I tested by entering subscription information and submit the form, I saw that there was a popup asking for login: https://d.pr/i/XdJijW

    This functionality doesn’t come from MailPoet itself, but it might come from a security plugin or if there’s a permission issue in your .htaccess file.

    I’d recommend going through a conflict test to find out if a plugin causes this, you can follow the instruction on this page: https://kb.mailpoet.com/article/204-how-to-test-for-plugins-conflict

    Thank you both for writing back to me!

    The pop-up appears, because I have protected my /wp-admin folder via my DirectAdmin panel for extra security. Given this information. Is there something that I can do? Which specific folder or file does the plugin reach out to in that folder that causes this problem?

    I apologize for the late reply!

    When a subscription form is submitted, our plugin sends a POST request to /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php. You need to allow such requests without additional authentication from your DirectAdmin panel.

    Your reply is much appreciated. I had to disable Folder Protection to surpass the problem. But I wish there was another way.

    Thank you for confirming that the issue is resolved now.

    MailPoet does need access to /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php as well as a lot of other plugins as well.

    I suggest you reach out to DirectAdmin support to see if they can add an exception instead of disabling the whole feature.
