    Hi,

Currently, when a user clicks the ‘Cookie Settings’ button and opens up the cookie settings pop up, all of the cookie categories (Functional, Performance, Analytics, Advertisement…) are disabled by default and the user can enable them manually.

Is it possible to make it so all of the cookie categories would be enabled by default? Therefore if the user chooses to modify the settings, the user would need to manually disable each one of them which leaves a better chance for the user to click ‘Save & Accept’ and just leave them enabled.

Another question I have is will the cookie notice appear for every user or only for those living in the EU and California? If it’s set to appear for everyone, is it possible modify who to show the cookie notice? It would make the most sense to show a GDPR compliance cookie notice to EU users and a CCPA compliance notice to users from California only. Users not from those areas should not be bothered with a cookie notice at all.

Lastly, will the cookie notice be shown to a user only once? So if the user accepts all, some or none of the cookies 1 time, your plugin will remember the selection forever and not show the cookie notice again, correct?

    `Hi @jokubas2000k

    Greetings from Webtoffee!

    1. You can go to GDPR Cookie settings > Cookie category >. Edit default state to “enable” so that in settings popup in frontend user gets already enabled category toggle button which they can disable if they wish to.

    2. The feature to show the banner according to visitor location for California and European users is available in our premium version only.

    3. If the user accepts a cookie then the consent won’t be asked until the expiry of that cookie. By default, the consent is saved for 1 year. You can alter the duration by using this filter.

I have a problem with one site enabling cookie categories. I’ve set all except “Necessary” to default state “enable” but they still show as disabled. I’ve cleared the cache many times, but to no avail. Any ideas on how to resolve this?

I found a workaround. I opened the site in an incognito window, then opened Cookie Settings and slid all to enable. Now it works when I revisit in any browser. A bit weird, but it worked.

Now, I’m not sure. Is it only working on my IP address?

Is there any way to tell for sure that the default state is enabled?

    Hi @bobsled,

From what you have explained, it sounds like a caching issue. You might be having caching on the server-side too which you may have missed clearing. In any case, if you can share the site URL we can check the issue for you,

    Hi @webtoffee

Thanks for your prompt reply. Yes, if you could check this URL, it would be great to know if all is working.

Hopefully, you’ll see all cookie options enabled.

    Thanks.

    Hi @bobsled,

We checked that site and it works correctly. All categories are enabled by default.

    Great @webtoffee

Thanks for taking the time to check.

    Hi @webtoffee,

If I set the default state of a cookie to “enabled”, will that cookie be active upon the user’s arrival to the site without first asking for permission? Or does the default state only affect the toggle button state in the cookie settings?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi @jokubas2000k,

Yes, the default state of a category will only affect the toggle button state. The cookies will only be set upon users’ consent.
