On my website I’m publishing a menu of meals on a monthly basis. In the page I’m using the pdf-embedder plugin to embed the PDF on the page. As this plugin requires the URL of the document, I would like to overwrite the “menu.pdf” each month with a new version. By doing this I do not need to change the used URL.

When I do this, I get 2 documents: menu.pdf and menu-1.pdf. Is there an easy way to overwrite this document so that I can upload newer versions of menu.pdf without having to change the used URL ?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @stlecho,

Thank you for your request. Real Cookie Banner does not currently offer a replace file function, which is what you would need for your project.

However, in this case it is not a good idea either. Depending on the settings of your WordPress, your web server and the browser of your visitors, files are cached in the visitor’s browser for different lengths of time. This means that if awesome-resturant.com/wp-content/uploads/menu.pdf was downloaded once, your visitor will not necessarily download the PDF again the next day. Instead, it may display a local copy from your visitor’s browser. This means that the old menu could still be displayed.

Therefore the URL of your menu should change with every new menu.

I hope this explanation helps you!

    Best regards,

    Jan
