    Hi there,

Just noticed I can’t get rid of the notifications. There are two types, both very aggressive: one telling me to automatically update, and the second suggesting me to buy the plugin. I can’t seem to get rid of them, I close them, then I work on the site a little more (a few seconds the most), then again the UGLY, AGGRESSIVE, UNWANTED notification shows up. I press on the “eye”, it keeps flashing, can’t really work, it is really annoying, because it’s red and looks problematic.

And when I delete a tag, when I update some other things around the site, the banner shows up, sometimes there are two of them, one on top of the other, one with the updates, one with the upgrade. CRAZY!

I know I have to update, but I don’t know why I have to autoupdate, in my opinion NOT recommended. There’s a history with automatic updates breaking sites.

This is a good product, do not screw it up. With notifications!

    And WHY?

WordPress has some rules regarding these. Once you close them, they should be gone! Otherwise it’s BAD MARKETING. Fix it, please!

    Hi @catalinfx

We apologize for this issue you’re having with the notifications.

We just released a patch release for Yoast SEO v17.7.1 (changelog here) where there was an issue with the notifications for the configuration, as well as for auto-updates. Could you please first update to the most recent version?

Then, would it be possible for you to attach a screenshot (you can upload an image to a site such as snipboard.io or something similar) to share a link here on the specific notification that you are seeing? We would expect that if you click on the ‘eye’ next to the notification, it would dismiss the notification accordingly.

When you delete a post, page, or taxonomy, it’s good practice if you were to create a 410 redirect (that lets Google know this has been deleted and there is no replacement) or a 301 redirect to another relevant post or page. This is one of the features in our redirect manager, which we do upsell in that notification as it will help handle that for you when you upgrade to Yoast SEO Premium. If you were to reload the post or page or taxonomy overview, that notification should disappear accordingly.
