Questions About Directorist
-
I’m working on a project that is similar to, but not specifically, a directory site. It just uses a lot of the same logic as a directory site.
I am currently using ultimate member for a more robust registration form with custom fields that I require for manual approval.
I use WPUF for some member groups to create posts in specific categories, some visible to the public, others visible to members only.
Currently, I simply put the post form on a dedicated page for it, restrict it to member groups only, lock it down, and members able to post in those categories can access the form to post.
I do not need a registration option. I need it to play nice with ultimate member, unless Directorist offers the option to set custom fields that are required for registration and linked to the profile, e.g. city, state, age, payment invoice information, etc.
My questions
Does Directorist offer custom registration fields without some pro upgrade?
Does Directorist allow the option to restrict member roles to creating “listing” posts in specific categories? Group A can only post A, B, and C categories. Group B can only post 1, 2, 3 categories.
By multi directory, do you mean that with Directorist I’d have an “auto dealership” directory, a “live events” directory, a “restaurants” directory and so on, each with its own specific multiple categories and subcategories, and with the filter search option for multiple cities or states?
I use PODS for custom taxonomies, so will Directorist work with that so mutliple categories and sub categories would be doable?
So a search for Houston restaurants would show those in the restaurant directory while oregon events would show in the other. But if someone searched just houston then all the stuff in that state, from multiple directories, would show up.
Am I understanding this correctly?
And to clarify the user role restrictions with Ultimate Member, I’m asking, for example, if group A can only post to the auto dealer directory, group b can only post to the event dealer directory, etc. Not everyone can post to any directory. I need the member groups to stay in their lane, basically.
If so, this may work better, provided the registration issue is handled. I absolutely require a custom fields option for the registration. The only registratio option that I’ve found has been UM. If Directorist can either work with that or provide the option, this might well kill several birds with one plugin.
Thanks for your time.
Also, that free directory theme linked on the about section doesn’t work. Where can it be downloaded?
