Automatically use excerpts in lists of posts?

Hello,

I’m trying to get my site to automatically show excerpts/summaries of posts rather than the full post in pages with multiple posts such as author archives, category archives, etc.

I found a few plugins for this, but all were written for old versions of WP and don’t seem to be updated. Tried several and none worked correctly.

Any idea how I can do this?
