PayPal Express Checkout -> edit the shipping address before “BUY”

    Hi there,

    I have the following issue. I check if the customer provided a house number in the street address field, because it happend often that they forgot this number.

    When customers using PayPal Express Checkout and using an address without a house number from their PayPal account, the customer can not makre the order, because the house number is missing. And it is not possible to edit the shipping address on the woocommerce checkout page. The customer is stuck and can only cancel the order. I want to use Express Checkout but this is a huge problem :-/.

    We definitely want customers to be able to check out. Could you please send me a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it here.

    this is not necessary because it is happening because of the house number validation of the Germanized Plugin:

    With the plugin you can make it required, that the woocommerce address field contains a number. And this is very important, because before, it happend very often, that the customer didn’t provide a house number.

    I tried it by myself.

    • When you use normal checkout you can not proceed if you not provide a house number. So you have to fill in one! Perfect.
    • When you use PayPal Express Checkout, and then choose an address without house number from paypal, you will be redirected to the woocommerce shop and the shipping address have no house number. You are not able to edit the shipping address on the woocommerce checkout page. You can only cancel the order.

    You can easely try it by yourself when you use PayPal Express Checkout and choose an address without house number and only the street name.

    In Germanized you can make the house number required with:

    Woocommerce -> Settings -> Germanized -> General -> Checkout -> Validate House Number.

    The problem is: You can not edit the shipping address on the checkout page to provide required information/ change the address…

    Hi @infonetzlichtcom,

    Thanks for the explanation. It may be that the required house number from Germanized is simply not compatible with the express checkout.

    Since this extension has been retired, the best thing to do would be to go on and move to its replacement, WooCommerce PayPal and see if it’s compatible. If it isn’t you could get in touch with the developers to see if it’s possible to include compatibility in a future update.
