• Hello, I’m trying to access the file header.php so I can add meta tags to the code.

    I have no idea how to access it though. Can I do it in my dashboard.
    I have learnt from a preious post that you can under appearance/themes, but I do not have any edit button.

    Could you please advise? Thanks

  • you are close,

    its in appearances->editor

    once in there, you will see all the associated files of your active theme listed on the right, header.php will be in there

    Also, for adding meta tags, sometimes its best to use a plugin. like all in one seo

    Reason being if you add the meta tags, they are static….unless you use some fancy conditional statements…. but with a plugin, you can add separate meta tags/descriptions for each post/page

    Thanks for your help!

    Somehow I don’t have appearances->editor
    Only: Themes, Widgets, Extras, Background, Header, Typekit Fonds, Edit CSS

    …? Am I on an old version?

    Thanks

    what’s the link to your site? it’s not something.wordpress.com is it?

    ah, you can’t edit your themes then. this forum is for self-hosted www.remarpro.com blogs

    wordpress.com has their own support forum, but either way, you won’t be able to edit your theme on a wordpress hosted blog unfortunately
