I have this website for which I need to regenerate a new image file size, which is 1920×1280. I have registered the filesize and need to start the proces for approximately 98% of the media library (note: 38.000 files).

Last friday I started the proces during the day and at the end of the day it was done for 24%. I paused and stopped the process, expecting to be able to proceed with the remaining 76% of the files another time.

But the next time I started the process, it still claimed to have 38.000 files to regenerate. So the 24% of the files which I thought I had done the other day were still included somehow. So to my understanding, if you don’t complete the whole queue all at once, all the waiting is useless and for nothing?

Could anyone confirm or deny this is as intended? Since I think it is a very strange process. Why shouldn’t I be able to regenerate my media library partially and proceed with the process another moment with the remainder of the library?

EDIT: I have only selected a the newly created image size in the settings and the “Don’t redo existing” is checked.

    Thanks in advance.

    Best regards,

    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,

I just tested it from my side, and I am able to resume the process if I pause it. The already regenerated thumbnails are remembered (see here) as well.

I have noticed you wrote that you paused and stopped the process. If you pressed the two buttons indeed (first pause, then stop), then yes, the regeneration will restart from the beginning. If you want to resume the process later on, you only need to press on Pause.

    I hope that helps!
