Woocommerce setup site
-
Woocommerce will try to get you to do set up site. Uploading logo for example. It will ruin your entire site. It will change everything you have done. Change the header and the menus and the background color and remove your sidebar if you had one. If you look for support there is an area they try to get you to sign up for wordpress.com. Is this what you call professional conduct?

If you can fix it it’s a support question. I don’t think you can so then it’s a review and a warning I guess. My site was ruined by woocommerce is what the problem is. I guess woocommerce is just sort of amateurish. It’s just that I didn’t know that. Now I have to basically start from scratch again with my webpage.
?? I know the startup you’re referring to, but there is an option to say, “Not Now” and go back.
The solution would be to reach out to your hosting provider and see if you have daily backups. Revert back to the day before you clicked the button to setup.
Let me know if have any more questions. This forum is an open discussion serviced by volunteers. If you want, you could also submit a ticket at woocommerce.com
Did you follow the setup wizard (instructions: https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-setup-wizard/), because it gives you an option to choose a theme, proceed with your own, or upload a theme? If you proceed with your own, I wouldn’t think there would be a problem. Please advice, because I will be installing this plugin myself. I have worked with the plugin in the past, but it was already installed prior my start.
Thanks!
TracyI don’t think it said anything about setup-wizard. It says get ready to start selling and at the end it says personalize my store. Whatever you do do not do that. First it says Create custom homepage. I skipped that one. Then it says upload logo. I didn’t really know what it meant. Maybe upload logo to woocommerce?? There was an image of my logo there. I clicked on it and then it totally destroyed my site. The logo was moved. It totally changed the header. The footer was gone. The sidebar was gone. I guess you just have to be really wary about woocommerce. If it says anything about designing your store run in the other direction.
Hello there,
So sorry to hear about what happened.
Change the header and the menus and the background color and remove your sidebar if you had one. If you look for support there is an area they try to get you to sign up for wordpress.com. Is this what you call professional conduct?
Being a WooCommerce non-subscription user is optional, and it is a valid option. Can you provide a screenshot of the area where there is a sign-up for WordPress.com?
For screenshots you may want to use https://snipboard.io – please follow the instructions on that page, then paste the URL in this thread.
In case you want to start the configuration of a site, please check:
https://woocommerce.com/document/start-with-woocommerce-in-5-steps/If you would like to select/apply a theme for your store, check this article below:
https://woocommerce.com/document/choose-change-theme/Thanks
In the wordpress dashboard when you go into woocommerce in the top right hand corner there is a help button. When you click on this it opens up a drawer. The top option says Get support. When you click on that it takes you to my screenshot below. It says log in to your woocommerce account with your wordpress.com account. The logo for www.remarpro.com and wordpress.com is the same so if you are not paying attention you think woocommerce is making you sign in with your www.remarpro.com account. It looks like woocommerce is trying to trick you into signing up for wordpress.com or something. I find this very distasteful.

The logo was moved.
In case you would like to upload/edit your site logo, please check:
https://woocommerce.com/document/add-a-custom-logo/It totally changed the header. The footer was gone. The sidebar was gone.
It sounds to me that the site configuration was not done properly. My recommendation is to follow the previous documentation provided.
Regarding the option to get support:
I understand what you are saying, sorry for the confusion. As mentioned, WooCommerce free membership is a valid option. Please be advised the free membership does not include full support. Only the users that buy a subscription may receive professional support.
On the other hand, you can reach out in this forum with your questions according to these guidelines, this forum is supported by volunteers (Please note the scope of our support is limited).
Thanks.
To igor
I think this is pretty farfetched frankly. I click on a woocommerce link to upload a logo and it totally changes the appearance of my website in every way and you are going to say that it was because the site was not set up right. That certainly doesn’t make any sense to me.
Hey @anjohnsen,
Which theme are you using? Can you get in touch with your theme developers and let them have a look?
WooCommerce helps customize your store’s look and feel but adding a custom logo is a WordPress theme feature, so theme authors should be able to help you fix the layout.
Thanks.
I am using blocksy pro. There might be some issues with the theme or the template. I don’t really think that explains why uploading a logo would destroy the entire appearance of a website in every way. Seems to me that maybe woocommerce doesn’t know what they are doing when it comes to this type of thing so they should stay out of it or else learn how to do it properly.
Hi @anjohnsen
Thanks for getting back to us.
I don’t really think that explains why uploading a logo would destroy the entire appearance of a website in every way.
I’m not really sure how that happened, as personally I’ve never experienced something similar after launching multiple WooCommerce test sites. It must be said though we always use the official supported themes that are available in the www.remarpro.com themes directory.
That said, as suggested by serafinnyc we also recommend that you contact your host and see if they hold a backup copy of your site so that you can revert to a previous working state.
Hi there,
It’s been a while since we last heard back from you. I’m going to mark this thread as resolved.
Hopefully, you were able to find a way forward with the issue – we’ll be here if and/or when you are ready to continue.
