wp-config woes

I have been struggling with wp-config for a while. I finally got my login to reappear (after a long absence) at /wp-login.php, but above the login is this:

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/foojrai/public_html/bloggo/wp-config.php:42) in /home/foojrai/public_html/bloggo/wp-login.php on line 7
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/foojrai/public_html/bloggo/wp-config.php:42) in /home/foojrai/public_html/bloggo/wp-login.php on line 8
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/foojrai/public_html/bloggo/wp-config.php:42) in /home/foojrai/public_html/bloggo/wp-login.php on line 9

So if I do try to use the login, the above error message simply reappears across the WHOLE page (instead of just the top). Sorry if this is a daft question, but I am a tech-challenged newbie and I’m about to chuck in the towel.
