Screen flickering

Thanks for reaching out. From checking your site on my own android and an Android emulator using Chromes Developer tools I don’t encounter the same flickering.

Can you share whether this occurs on other devices from your side, or maybe share a screen recording of this behavior and we can check on this further? You can use a service such as Loom or RecordIt to share. Please check from other devices also. What you’re encountering may be specific to your device.

And great job on your AMP site, very impressive scores when checking PageSpeed Insights.

@mfelicio Checking in here – are you still seeing issues with flickering?

Hi, yes, I still have the same problem. I tested on different mobile phones (Pixel 4a and Xiaomi MI 9) and it happens the same in both. Also, it happens when I check with Chrome’s inspect, selecting the dimensions of a Moto G4.

You will see it happening when I load the page for the first time (right side of screen) and then it happens again when I refresh the page. This doesn’t happen on the original page.

@mfelicio Thanks for the update. I’ve requested access to that video recording now. Once I’m able to view the video hopefully this provide further insights.

Thanks for sharing the video. For testing purposes can you share if the same occurs if you temporarily disable ads on your site? It looks like you’re using Site Kit so you can easily do so by navigating to “Site Kit > Settings > Connected Services > AdSense > Edit“, all from within your WordPress dashboard.

Let me know how it goes after you perform this check.

I have both Sitekit and Adinserter Pro in my website (for AMP and non-AMP ads). I did what @jamesosborne suggested and:

– No ads (site kit and ad inserter turned off): flickering seems to disappear
– Only adinserter ads: flickering is less commmon
– Only site kit ads (auto ads): flickering happens frequently
– Both: lots of flickering

@mfelicio Thanks for confirming the above. Can you temporarily switch to the AMP plugins reader mode and check whether the same issue occurs with one of the core themes activated – in Reader mode only, no changes to your overall active theme (AMP > Settings > Reader > Select Theme > Save changes)? If you want to let me know once you’ve switched to one of the core themes I’ll perform some additional checks on my side.

Hi, I have switched to twenty-twenty and the flickering disappeared.

I have now switched back to transitional mode and the flickering is back.

I am using GeneratePress theme and their AMP plugin.

Thanks for the update @mfelicio. I’ll check this with the team and report back to you here. I can confirm a slight flickering using a responsive view from Chromes dev tools, and on occasion as you have using a Moto G4 emulator.

I’ll report back to you here once I have an update on this, we may need to perform some checks on the same theme with ads.

@mfelicio Thanks for your patience on this. We’ve checked this from the same theme and I don’t encounter any issues with single ad units, while awaiting Auto ads to be placed.

We’ve also performed some checks on your site such as the AMP playground and find the flickering inconsistent as you did.

If you’re only encountering this with ads and the GeneratePress theme have you tried reaching out to the theme specific or AdSense support channels teams?
