• Hi, While I was preparing my site, I installed wordpress in the “public_html/1” directory so that everyone could not see the processes. Now my site is ready, but I can login at https://www.gradastone.com/1. I’m trying to take a backup of wordpress and restore it to the public html directory. it gives error “Error: Destination configuration file failed to update with new values”. Although I am copying the files, I cannot login because the cpanel installatron wordpress plugin is still set to publichtml 1. I just want to move my site from public_html/1 folder to public html. Clone operation does not happen, gives the same error, backup is not restored, gives the same error. I tried with duplicator, it doesn’t work either. please help me.

You can manually move the site.

It seems very involved, but once you’ve gained experience doing this you’ll find it’s not really that complicated. Moving the files is obvious. The key is updating the DB to reflect the correct paths (step 11).

There are easier, semi-automated ways to move a site, but I’ve not found them to be reliable. Manual moves have never failed me.
