3.0.0 SEO and Sharing
-
This major update in how the plugin works seems to have a very poor effect on SEO and sharing. When installing 3.0.0 on new website, so it uses the new interface, I embed the calendar in my page and then I click on an event in the calendar, the event pops up in a modal and the URL changes. I copy this URL and paste it in a new window, it loads that modal again, great. But the actual link if javascript isn’t enabled goes to a URL like https://events.timely.fun/silonxlz/event/123456789/20211015070000. So I have a few concerns:
– The URL that it changes to when it pops up only has an event ID in and not the name of the event so that’s not good for SEO or knowing what event you’re linking to
– Since the non-javascript link goes off site to Time.ly’s site, is this what Google sees? Or will Google actually follow the link with javascript and see the URL on my site to attribute the content to my site? If it only sees Time.ly’s site, this is very poor for my site’s SEO.
– When I use the Share feature, it doesn’t share the URL on my site! It shares the Time.ly URL! So if someone tries to share my event, they’ll be linking to the event page on Time.ly and not on my site. This is not helpful at all for pushing traffic to my site.Unless I’m missing some configuration options, I won’t be using this plugin any more unfortunately… Please let me know if I’m missing something.
