• Is there some way to determine which plug-ins are actually in use on a WordPress site? Or perhaps a “last used” date or similar?

I’m helping someone on a site with a slew of plugins. Some are active, some not, that part’s easy. However, many area active. Is there some way to tell if they are incorporated into a page?

I realize that some plug-ins are developer, and not user-page, oriented e.g. a URL search and replace tool. I’m trying to determine which plugins might be generating code that’s ending up in front of end users depending on what pages they request e.g. “Hey, look, here’s a plugin that can be used to put a PDF into a page that’s active… wonder if it’s in use anywhere on the site”.

    Thx

    Howdy!

To the best of my knowledge there is no good way other than deactivate all the plugins and see what breaks. Then activate one by one. The best possible way might be creating a duplicate staging or testing site and then do that.

Thanks. I had thought of that alternative. Some of our issues are errors… but we’d also like to clean up the site. There are a lot of plug-ins that are active but I believe unused.

Shutting them off (one by one) and testing the whole site, page by page, is possible, but not a great use of time.
