After update to 3.6.0, replaced .kmz files get “application/zip” MIME type

  • On my WordPress site, I serve some .kmz (Google Earth) files which I periodically update and re-upload, thanks to the Enable Media Replace plugin.

    The plugin was automatically updated from version 3.5.0 to 3.6.0 some days ago. It appears that this update changed the behavior of the plugin: When I re-upload a .kmz file now, its MIME type (see post_mime_type column in wp_posts table) is set to application/zip. Earlier versions of the plugin (correctly) set the MIME type to application/vnd.google-earth.kmz.

    Any thoughts on this?
