• was happily & productively using PayPal Checkout Gateway when i foolishly upgraded to PayPal Payments as advised by WooCommerce.
Immediately got the whitescreen of death, with Critical Error Message!
clients also were getting 422 Unprocessable Entity Error code.
Have since reverted back to Checkout Gateway until this is fixed.

    Hi @frockman,

That doesn’t sound good, apologies for the trouble.

The PayPal Checkout plugin will continue to work for a little while and can be used if PayPal Payments, for some reason, does not work for you.

Do you still have access to the error message? We would like to look into what caused this behavior for you.
You can reach our support from the support forums, or from our own support system if you’d like to share more details like log files privately with us.
    Thanks!

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

    Hi Niklas

PayPal CHECKOUT is working fine thankfully, so I’m gonna stick with it as long as I can.

The error message my customers were getting with PAYMENTS was,

[UNPROCESSABLE_ENTITY] The requested action could not be performed, semantically incorrect, or failed business validation. https://developer.paypal.com/docs/api/orders/v2/#error-MISSING_SHIPPING_ADDRESS

    Best regards

    Hi @frockman,

I see, thanks for the clarification. This appears to be related to an issue that was resolved for our upcoming plugin update:
    https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce-paypal-payments/issues/330
This error can currently occur when the zip code is optional for the billing country. As your business is located in Ireland, it’s obviously quite a drastic problem that makes the plugin unusable for you.
Update 1.6.0 was already supposed to resolve the issue, but there was a bug that caused the fix to only partially apply.
With the next update, the issue should be resolved entirely.

If you are interested in giving the fixed version a try, you can send us a message from here and we will gladly provide a preview version: https://paypal.inpsyde.com/docs/request-support/

But the PayPal Checkout plugin will remain available and supported until around March 2022. It should even work for a while longer after that, but at that point, only PayPal Payments would be officially supported.
Unless you are interested in the new features such as Pay Later, PayPal Card Processing, or Vaulting, there is no necessity to switch to PayPal Payments quite yet.

For any further questions, feel free to reach out anytime. Feedback is always appreciated so we can improve the plugin where it’s needed the most.

    Kind regards,
    Niklas
