Hello, I have the subscription pop-up set to display once after the user has been on the site for 60 seconds. The problem is that it keeps reappearing on every page they navigate to.

That’s not really “once”, that’s more like “every page, repeatedly”.

You can choose where to show the pop-up just above the field where you defined the 60 seconds.

Yes, I see that. But the setting I’m referring to says “Once
xx seconds after the user arrived on the site”.

The problem is that it’s not once, it’s repeatedly, again and again. If a user reads several pages on my site, they will be shown the popup over and over again. That’s a good way to drive your users crazy and make sure they never come back. And that’s why most websites don’t do that ??

Is there a way to make it truly just “once”? If not, then the plugin doesn’t do what’s described in this setting.

Is the pop-up showing more than once per page?

It shows only once per page, but that’s not acceptable nor standard behavior for a pop-up, on any site. Imagine if you went to the BBC website and read a bunch of news articles, and the same pop-up showed on every page no matter how many times you showed it? You would never come back!

The plugin works accordingly. The pop-up shows once per page on “every page” because this is what you selected in the plugin. As mentioned above, you can choose to show the pop-up on certain pages only or even on a single page.

Thanks for making this plugin available – I appreciate your work on it, and I continue to use it.

The plugin setting states “Once XX seconds after the user arrived on the site”. The problem is that it’s not once after the user arrives on the site. It’s many times after they’ve arrived on the site. If it said “Once XX seconds after the user arrived on the page” then it would be correct.

The current behavior is not aligned with current standards nor acceptable UX of pop-ups on the web. It is going to push users away from our sites. You can take this as a feature request if you like, or ignore it. I’m still thankful for what you’ve done!

Side note: can you share what the “On some pages” setting means? I don’t see any documentation about that.

    Hi @btarter,

Thanks a lot for your feedback!

Can you please tell us which selections in Question 7 under “Where shall the pop-up be shown?” you made? The “Once
XX seconds after the user arrived on the site” settings you are referring to are connected with them, so e.g. if you selected “On every page”, the pop-up will be shown once the user arrives on the page then.

Regarding “On selected pages only” settings: there you can define to show the pop-up on particular pages only, e.g. Homepage or Contact page, selecting them from the list accordingly.

Hi @karolinauv , to answer your question, in Question 7 I have the “on all pages” option selected.

The “On selected pages” option doesn’t seem to work… the selection box is empty and when I CTRL-click nothing happens.

What does “On some pages” mean? What does it do?

    Thank you for clarifying, @btarter!

It looks like either there are no pages on the website or there’s a conflict with your theme – from our end, the option is working fine.

Regarding the “On some pages”: it seems that there’s indeed a problem with certain options for it missing. We will correct it in the next plugin’s version.

    Hi @btarter!

We corrected the problem related to “On some pages” in the new plugin version. Please let us know if that helps!

Hi @karolinauv thanks for the update. Can you help me understand the expected functionality of “on some pages”? I asked above but didn’t see a response to that. Thanks!

    (@karolinauv)

Sure @btarter! You can use “On some pages” option to choose on which pages to show the pop-up i.e. it is possible to select certain pages from the list and the pop-up will be displayed only there.
