• Hi Gregory,

I wanted to add a reminder to the topic I started 8 months ago, but it is now closed: Apache mod_rewrite module is not enabled – using nginx

In the meantime, I’ve found good solutions to the situation in general, and blogged about them (in German): Plesk: Fail2Ban Jails für Nginx and Nginx Konfiguration optimieren und Geld sparen

My Nginx-Config is now such that no 2xx or 3xx codes are logged, and logging is buffered. This makes the whole server much more responsive (I could downgrade both my servers). The Fail2Ban Jails I have developed myself, they catch the 4xx codes logged by Cerber and ban offenders in the Linux firewall.

Still, I don’t see many people going to the lengths which I have.

Therefore I would urge you to at least detect Nginx and warn users rather than just depositing .htaccess files…

    Regards,

    Tim
