    Hi,
Just wondering why Wordfence is showing “An update is available for 1 plugin” but when I head to my plugin page, nothing is available to be updated?

    Kind Regards,
    Lily

Hi @amiya1672, thanks for getting in touch!

Sometimes it’s been known for a scan to start running around the same time as automatic/manual plugin updates are performed, so picks up the outdated plugins at the start but won’t realize plugins have been updated by the time it ends.

On the free version of Wordfence, a quick scan runs every day, and a full scan runs every 72 hours. The warning should be suppressed once the latest scan checks the plugins again, or you can run a manual scan – but this shouldn’t be necessary.

Let me know if the warning persists after another scan cycle.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

    Hi @wfpeter,
    Thanks for replying!
It had been flagging for the last week that’s why I reached out.
Just then, there’s another plugin flagging for update under my plugin screen. After it is updated, the warning in Wordfence disappeared as well.
Not sure if it is something that was preventing that particular plugin from showing a new version is available or just coincident.
But all is good for now.
    Thanks!
    Lily

    Hi @wfpeter ,

Sorry just on a separate topic, do you know if it is possible that Wordfence can be blocking UpdraftPlus Backup/Restore plugin from backing up? I’m just trying to find the reason why all of a sudden the plugin’s backup job can’t be completed anymore all of a sudden. This happened around the same time as that warning wouldn’t disappear as well.

    Kind Regards,
    Lily

    Hi @amiya1672,

I missed your additional response after reporting things were going well. The backups were likely blocked by triggering a false-positive in the firewall that can be rectified with Learning Mode.

From the Wordfence Dashboard click on Manage WAF. Then you will see Basic Firewall Options > Web Application Firewall Status. Change the option to Learning Mode. Now perform some backup actions that were causing issues. This will help Wordfence learn that these actions are normal and it will allow them in the future. After you have finished performing the actions, switch the WAF from Learning Mode back to Enabled and Protecting.

The backups should be allowed to run in future.

    Thanks again,

    Peter.
