Empty form steps auto-replicating in editor

Using Gutenberg Forms with GeneratePress (theme) and Generate Blocks. Thanks for an imminently useful plugin – very much a weak point of WP you are filling in.
This might be a bug: Everytime I make a revision to my page a new empty form step is generated in Gutenberg Forms. By now my backend editor has an incredible amount of empty form steps that do not respond to clicking ‘remove block’. Fortunately the form steps do not show on the frontend but it is getting a bit annoying on the backend.
Are you aware of this and could you advise a way to remove the auto-generating empty steps?
