Acceptance Field Not Submitting

I have a form with this acceptance field

[acceptance Bytickingsubmittingthisformyouareacceptingalltermsandconditions optional] By ticking/submitting this form you are accepting all terms and conditions [/acceptance]

However if I remove the ‘optional’ bit it will not submit at all. I want it to be a required field obviously
