Customizing the mistylook….please help?!

I am using mistylook theme for my husband website/blog and I need some help. I want to make the header image to go from one side to the other completely, I mean the same width as the content/page size?
I would also like to take off the tab menu at the top and put a horizontal menu just under the blog title? to make it look like the photo inside the post of this blog:
