    Hello,

There is an issue with the “YouTube And Vimeo Privacy Enhanced Mode” option.
When I activate it and use a Youtube video layer in a slide, I still have some cookies set on my browser (by .youtube.com) :
    – VISITOR_INFO_LIVE
    – YSC
    – CONSENT
    – And sometimes “NID” cookie (set by .google.com)
This is the case whether I embed my video with a youtube-nocookie.com URL or a standard youtube.com URL.
So, the Youtube layer is not GDPR-ready now. How can I make it work in order to have no cookie set by Youtube or Google ?

    Hi @echappee06!

What you should know about Youtube is, that it creates cookies even with youtube-nocookie.com. With these links Youtube only won’t use user viewing behavior tracking cookies, but all other cookies are used. This is mentioned in their documentation:
    https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/171780?hl=en#zippy=%2Cturn-on-privacy-enhanced-mode
under the “Manage video embedding options” section at “Turn on privacy-enhanced mode”.

So Youtube doesn’t allow you to use its videos without their cookies. What we usually suggest is, that this should be mentioned in the Privacy Policy page of the website, because we haven’t heard of GDPR issues yet caused by Youtube, as if Youtube couldn’t be GDPR compliant at all, they would surely address this matter, as this affects millions of websites.

And you should also note, that Google fonts are storing user datas as well, and they don’t give an option not to do that. So with them you also have two options, that either mention it in your Privacy Policy page, or don’t use Google fonts. Within our Font settings:
    https://smartslider.helpscoutdocs.com/article/1787-fonts
you can turn off Google fonts, if you want to be 100% sure, that we won’t load any Google fonts.

Thank you for your quick answer !
So as I understand, Youtube, even with the privacy enhanced mode, is not conform with the GDPR, because some cookies are still set without consent.
I think I will use a cookie blocker plugin. Is there one that can work with Smart Slider 3, so I can still use it to display Youtube videos (I thought about Borlabs Cookie plugin or Cookiebot) ?

The main problem about this is, that getting cookies from Youtube is not optional. I don’t think there is any plugin, which could avoid their cookies, because there are no codes, which could do that. If you embed a Youtube video into your website, it will include those cookies. A cookie blocker plugin might removes them, but they were still created beforehand, without consent. And also at that point, when the video loaded into your website, Youtube collected datas, which also cannot be avoided.

So I don’t see a way, where you could use Youtube videos, if you want to follow GDPR this way, to avoid every possible cookies. The best I can suggest is, that in the Pro version we have Video layer:
    https://smartslider.helpscoutdocs.com/article/1845-video-layer
There you can insert your locally stored mp4 video, and this way you can avoid using Youtube.

Thank you ! Embedding videos with Vimeo seems to be a good option too, because it might not set cookies if the privacy enhanced mode is on.

Yes, as I see Vimeo with its privacy enhanced mode doesn’t uses cookies, nor stores tracking datas, so that could be fine too.
