This is probably going to sound REALLY novice of me but I’m having to restore my site (thanks GoDaddy) and the instructions say my next step is to delete the index.html file? Is that the same as index.php? Where is it?

    Thanks!

  • Not the same. index.php is the entry file for WordPress, Don’t delete it! index.html is for plain html code, this is usually the “under construction” sign on your new site. I have no GoDaddy experience but your index.html is probably in your root directory.

The reason to delete index.html is that if you have both index files in the same directory index.html will be executed and index.php will never be executed.

it is really easy to delete index.html. Log in to your FTP and you will find index.html file there. Delete it or rename it (be on safe side :))..
