Hey there! I have a suggestion for future development of this awesome plugin. It would be cool to integrate it with existing builders (I use WPBakery), maybe by using a shortcode or something ??

Anyway, I love your plugin and it should deserve more spotlight because it’s simple and it works.

    Keep up the great work!

Hey @pinkish1 thanks for the kind words and review!

I haven’t used WPBakery before, looks like a page builder for WordPress. I see some theme integration documentation but nothing about plugin integration unless I’m missing something.

As far as I know Gutenberg blocks are an alternative to shortcodes and the blocks allow for more functionality, so I’m not sure the plugin can offer a shortcode as well as a Gutenberg block, but I’d be happy to be proven wrong and add support for this if suitable.

    Hi Alec, excellent plugin indeed.
I’m using ELEMENTOR and also miss a SHORTCODE to put inside a page that is already built.

I think that the code for this isn’t complicated to do.
When you have time to do it, pls let us know.

    Best and thanks!

    @lselbach OK I am convinced ??

Support for Shortcode embed method has been added in plugin version 1.4.0.

The service (youtube or vimeo) must be set with the Shortcode method:

    [protected_video url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_hO_fjmMnk" service="youtube"]

If it works well for you please consider leaving a review.

As this suggestion has now been implemented I’m marking this as resolved.

    Works perfect now.

    Thank you!!!

Dear @alecrust thanks a lot for the reply.
    It worked like a charm.

@giannic79 as this plugin uses Plyr as the player, this would need to be requested there.

Hello Alex, thank you for your pluggin (just what I’m looking for).
I’ve just install it but I can’t use it.
I’m using elementor as builder page, I’ve tried to make a section and put a short code following your instruction [protected_video url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_hO_fjmMnk” service=”youtube”]
    but nothing appears.
I’ve read that an other user of elementor successfully install it but I don’t know how.
Can you please tell me what I’m missing and how I can fix this issue please.
    Thank you by advance

    The quotes look wrong here:

    [protected_video url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_hO_fjmMnk” service=”youtube”]

    It should be:

    [protected_video url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_hO_fjmMnk" service="youtube"]

Thank you for your repply, I’ve just copy and paste your quote but nothing happens..
    I don’t know why
    Any suggestion?

My bad Alex, it works well, I just can’t see it directly when I’m working on my page with elementor.
I have to previsualize on a new page to see the video
    Thank you very much!!!
( Do you have an idea to disable the Youtube mark. On elementor you can use “modest brand” so you don’t see youtube, but don’t have the options of your pluggin)
Thanks by the way, great job Alex

    *Alec sorry for the mistake

Glad you got it sorted! That’s correct Shortcodes won’t display until you publish or preview the page.

Regarding removing the YouTube logo behind the player overlay, sadly no this cannot be disabled. The Plyr player loads the standard YouTube embed player underneath which we have no control over, and there is no “modest” version of the standard YouTube player (I believe there was once upon a time).

Ok, thank you for your answer, and big thanks for your pluggin, I’m searching this kind of solution for my videos for a long time ago now!
    Wish u the best Alec
