• Best would be, if there was an option to NOT implement GTM via GTM4WP.
Unfortunately when turning the No script option OFF to implement data layers only,it is still necessary to provide the GTM container ID. AND GTM4WP then still implements the GTM script.

This is unwanted behaviour, because we need to collect user consent BEFORE the script in inserted.
SAME goes for Analytics and Ads conversion script that are implemented via GTM4WP.

Please provide a solution, so this can be integrated GDPR ready.

    thanks

    Hi,

My opinion on implementing proper consent handling is different, you can read my thoughts here:

    https://gtm4wp.com/gdpr

Borlabs CMP, just like many other CMPs use cookies to store the consent state. You can load your GTM container without user consent since within your container, you can control tags with triggers and triggers can look at cookie values besides the actual URL or some custom events.

For example if you would like to prevent your Facebook pixel to load if there is no specific user consent (yet?) then you can read the appropriate cookie of Borlabs, check the content and if you do not see any proper consent, you can block the tag from firing. This can be achieved with a 1st party cookie variable that reads the consent cookie of the Borlabs plugin and a trigger that uses the “Page View” trigger type but also ads a rule where the consent cookie contains some specific value.

Since all CMPs use different consent cookie content to store consent state, I can not give you a one stop solution here. If you can post an URL of a site where the Borlabs CMP is active, I can have a look at what consent cookie this plugin is storing.

A more future proof version would be if Borlabs would integrate with Consent Mode:

With that, you could control tag firing and tag behavior with the native options of GTM:
