Internal Server Error when Member Tries to Post

    Hello!

    One of my members encountered this message when she tried to post on my community blog. What do I need to do to fix this?

    “Internal Server Error
    The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was
    unable to complete your request.

    Please contact the server administrator, [email protected]
    and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you
    might have done that may have caused the error.

    More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to
    use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.”

    We need to know what’s in the server error log.

    I found this in the error log:

    [Sat Feb 19 12:40:38 2005] [error] [client 66.249.65.234] File does not exist: /home/thewrite/public_html/404.shtml

    [Sat Feb 19 12:40:38 2005] [error] [client 66.249.65.234] script not found or unable to stat: /home/thewrite/public_html/submit.php

    This sent me looking into my WP files, where I couldn’t find the submit.php file. I’ll check the WP files that I downloaded for the upgrade to see if I inadvertantly skipped this file.

    I checked but didn’t find the submit.php file in the download. Any suggestions?

    I’m not sure if this helps, but there is no submit.php file used in WordPress. How is your member trying to post? Is it through the WordPress interface?

    I’ll have to ask her. I assumed she was trying to submit through the WP interface. When she told me about her problem, I registered myself under another account and posted with no problems. I’ll let you know what she says.

    Update: My member is still not able to post anything through the WP interface without getting a server error. I’m able to post pages and blog entries without a problem.

    Could virus protection software interfere with WordPress? The reason I’m asking this is because Norton Internet Security (which includes the anti-virus software) affected my Yahoo! email to the point where I couldn’t send emails or reply to anyone who had sent me an email.

    Also, has anyone had any problems using WordPress with Internet Explorer? I know that’s a very touchy browser.

    I’m grasping at straws here.

    IE is fine for me! PHP is server-side so I wouldn’t have thought browser would make too much difference…
