Websites Taking Several Days to Update

  • I’m working on two different websites (https://prepatecmiddleschool.org/ & https://academiamoderna.org/) that both seem to have issues with update delays. When I make updates, I can see them instantly reflected in WordPress. However, when I log out and go to the site as a visitor, I don’t see updates for anywhere from 2-7 days. It’s not just my computer, either, because I get the feedback from several other people as well. I’ve read that this is due to one or more plugins, particularly cache plugins. Is there a ways I can identify the root of the issue to resolve it? Please help!

  • It is highly likely that there is some caching software involved – try and flush the cache.

    Do you use Cloudflare?

    I assume you have updated your plugins. Have you used a tool to run a website speed test?

    Here are a few options to try:

    1. Force browser to reload (CTRL + F5 or Cmd + R in Mac) or blear cache: (In Chrome, click on the three-dot menu ? More Tools ? Clear Browsing Data.

    Or

    2. Clear WordPress cache for your website. Most caching plugins make it easy to clear.

    Or

    3. Attempt to disable all plugins and switch to the default Twenty Twenty theme. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of the problem.

    You could also check with your hosting provider if everything is in order from their side.

    Your websites might be self-hosted (I know a lot of schools run their own servers) or hosted using a hosting service. If the latter, the hosting company might also be able to help troubleshoot the problem.

    Thank you for the replies and information. I will check for all of these things. I wonder if there are particular caching plugins that are particularly problematic that I should be on the lookout for.
