I think that’s a good question, thanks for describing the scenario.

You would need to know who referred the customer. Here’s an example of how to include that information via a WhatsApp “Universal link”:

Go to your WordPress dashboard and under Widgets add a “Custom HTML” widget to a sidebar.

Input this as an example content of the Custom HTML widget:

<a href="https://wa.me/15551234567?text=Referrer%20reference:%20[referrer_id]">Contact via WhatsApp</a>

This includes the [referrer_id] shortcode which will render the referring affiliate’s ID. If the customer was not referred, then that will be empty. Alternatively you could use the [referrer display=”user_login”] shortcode which would render the affiliate’s login instead.

To test it, visit an affiliate link on your site and check the link that this points to. If you have visited a valid affiliate link, the affiliate ID will be included.

When the customer clicks the link, he will be offered to send a message using the pre-configured message. Note that the text=... part must be URL-encoded.
