Error in WooCommerce, cannot update.

    Hi,

    About 5 days ago, I had updated WooCommerce, which resulted in a critical error on my website. I could not even access my dashboard in recovery mode (it showed “Recovery mode not initialized.”) So I asked GoDaddy, my hosting provider, and they deactivated all the plugins and main theme and told me to activate them one by one to see which one was causing the problem. I confirmed that it was WooCommerce and upon activating it, it again permanently broke my site. “There has been a critical error on your site… …Please check your site email for instructions.”
    So I restored a backup through GoDaddy and thankfully I have my site back up now.

    However, I cannot update WooCommerce, as I know it will break my site again. What do I do? I can’t possibly leave it not updated or without any activity for an indefinite period.

    I checked my logs and there are some fatal error logs there (even in the backup version).
    I am definitely not an expert and I can’t find out the root cause of these errors.
    This is the error as shown in the fatal-errors log:

    Hello @ar07,

    I’m sorry to hear that! Based on the error, it looks like you have Jetpack installed.

    If you have Jetpack installed but inactive, could you try either deleting Jetpack altogether or enabling the plugin to see if that makes a difference? Since this broke your site before, if you can test this on a staging environment where this is happening that may be the safest way to conduct this test.

    If that doesn’t work, could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.?Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response – and feel welcome to redact any information in the report you feel is sensitive, such as your site address or subscriber information.

    No, Jetpack is currently not inactive, both Jetpack and WooCommerce are running together, without any (thankfully) visible problems. And since I do not have a staging site, I don’t want to enable/disable Jetpack, or prod it in any way, lest it breaks my site again. Sorry about that.

    Hi @ar07,

    Thanks for sending over your System Status.

    By checking the error log it seems that Package.php under woocommerce/packages/woocommerce-blocks/src/ doesn’t exist or is corrupted. Can you please install the standalone WooCommerce Blocks plugin and see if that helps solve the issue? You can download the plugin from this URL:

    Hi,
    As you suggested, I installed the WooCommerce Blocks plugin and then updated WooCommerce on my temporary staging site and then on my live site.
    It worked!
    After a brief period of “scheduled maintenance” it was finally updated. And I also updated the WooCommerce database for good measure.
