Why Smush disables to select specific media categories in Media Library?

After all images were rezised all images now end up under one category.
How I can select different media categories when I have only 3 options?:
    Smush: All Images
    Smush: Not Proccesed
    Smush: Bulk Ignored.

    Thanks.

    Hello @lukasvisuals ,

What categories are missing on your site? I’ve checked and Smush doesn’t remove any filter in Media Library, just add it’s own.

    kind regards,
    Kasia

    Hi,
I meant that after smushing all pictures are placed under one category Smush.

Before smushing I was able to sperate pictures to specific categories.

Where I can upload example jpgs?

    Hi @lukasvisuals

Since you are referring to “categories”, am I right thinking that you are using some additional plugin to “categorize” images (as WordPress doesn’t allow that by default)?

If yes, what is the plugin? Also, have you checked if in “Screen options” but (at the top of the screen) all related options – if there are any – are enabled?

It would also be helpful to see the issue on a screenshot but you can’t upload a file here, I’m afraid. Instead you can upload it to your site or any image/file sharing service (imgur, Google drive or photos, Dropbox etc) and post a direct link to it in response here.

    Best regards,
    Adam

After smushing all images in media libarary shows in one folder: “Smush: All Images”. That’s not good because now I cannot add new pictures to specific media categories or select pictures just from the “nature” category. Everything is in one place.
    After Smush

Before smush process I was able to create as many different media caegories I wanted and then set specific pictures to specific media categories. Like in in example.
    Before Smush
    Before Smush 1

If I am making now a new page with specific gallery “nature” I have to pick pictures one by one from all bunch in the folder Smush: All Images. That’s not nice.

Is it more clear right now?

    Hi @lukasvisuals

    Thanks for response!

WordPress is not allowing image categorization out of the box. It has to be done by additional plugin and based on the screenshots that you shared you do have such plugin installed.

Take a look at the links under the “Media” menu. You got “Library”, “Add new”, “Media Categories” and “Add multimedia” there. The last two are added by some plugin but I’m not sure which one as there are multiple plugins for Media Library enhancements.

It’s important which plugin it is because if there’s a conflict, it would be between that plugin and Smush. Knowing what plugin(s) for Media Library are you using would help me test it on my end.

It’s very unlikely that Smush has actually did anything to how the images are stored as it doesn’t change it. Most likely it’s a case of the category choice being hidden due to some unexpected conflict (note: “Smush: all images” and that entire drop-down is not a “category” – it’s just a filter to filter results).

That said, we need to know what plugin are you using to create these categories. If you are not sure, please go to the “Plugins” page in your site’s wp-admin and look for any plugins that contain “media” or “image” and “library” or “category”/”categories” or similar in their names and let me know about them, please.

    Kind regards,
    Adam

I am using Uncode WordPress theme and here are all the plugins I have installed.
    Plugins

Before Smush I really liked that I could add speficic images to specific categories.
    Media categories

and later when I create a new page with new gallery I can easilly select images from that only media category like in example:
    Link 1
    Link 2

What’s possible to do in this situation?

    Hi @lukasvisuals,

I had a look at Uncode Lite but it doesn’t seem to be from the same developer and it doesn’t have additional media library functionality that you are referring to.
And based on the plugin list there’s nothing from your plugins that would add these options so it’s most likely coming from the theme itself.

Since this is a premium theme I’m afraid that we don’t have access to it in order to check this further and see what could cause the issue.
I would suggest getting in touch with your theme developers and ask them to look into it further as Smush can be installed on their end for free and allow them to investigate it from there.

    Cheers,
    Predrag
