    REPORT No. JQCREBAF

    After setting up new features of the 4.2 release yesterday such as Guest Mode, Cache Mobile, Add Missing Sizes, and Generate UCSS, most images on our pages built with Elementor (https://www.io-te.dk and https://www.io-te.dk/okologi-og-naturligt-landbrug/ for example) won’t show when accessed on mobile phone (tested with safari/chrome browsers on iPhone).

    On plain Woocommerce-pages images are served properly, so the issue seems pagebuilder-related?

    I’ve tried to set Guest Mode, Cache Mobile, Add Missing Sizes, and Generate UCSS to OFF and purge all, yet the problem persists. If I disable LS Cache altogether in Tools, however, the images are served as usual.

    As I only see the problem when accessing our homepage on mobile phone (mobile view in desktop browsers shows the original images without problem), I am unsure how to troubleshoot the issue.

    Any help will be much appreciated!

  • Same problem. Desktop and mobile.

    Rollback to Version 3.6.4 fixed all problems.

    Thanks for your reply. Would be nice to be able to make use of the new features though…

    Same problem. Doesn’t happen always though, seems like the cache mechanism with time somehow becomes broken for mobile only. Same, page builder here also (gutenberg).

    Regarding settings, hope it helps – “cache for mobile” disabled, “Generate UCSS” – disabled, “Load CSS Asynchronously” – disabled, “Load JS Deferred” – disabled, “Optimize for Guests Only” – disabled.

    So all the settings with a potential to break things are disabled – everything was fine with 3.6.4 ??

    Hope the devs will get to the bottom of this soon ??

    Oh, maybe this new setting is to blame?

    CCSS Per URL – Disable this option to generate CCSS per Post Type instead of per page. This can save significant CCSS quota, however it may result in incorrect CSS styling if your site uses a page builder.

    It was ON, it seems I missed this new feature, going to disable it everywhere… hope it helps you too ??

    if you disable guest mode , does it work ?

    and with guest mode , did you see any 403, 404, 500 or 503 error in request list ?

    Guest mode on or off didn’t make a difference.
    Disabling WP Show Posts Pro fixed all the issues…
    Wp Show Posts works fine though but not the Pro version.

    Hi qtwrk,

    Disabling guest mode doesn’t make a difference, unfortunately. Disabling all the new features (ucss etc.) of 4.2 doesn’t make a difference either – the images do not show on my mobile phone browsers.

    How is one able to see errors in a request list on mobile browsers? I don’t know how to do so, but I will be happy to check if possible.

    I just re-installed 3.6.4 and the site now shows correctly again… let me know if I should re-install 4.2 in order to check for errors. Would really like to be able to use 4.2.

    Kind regards,

    Simon

    @luivil LS -> Toolbox -> [8] Betatest -> 3.6.4

    Hi,

    @oldteaseller

    if you go to toolbox -> export/import -> export your current setting , then reset to default, how does that do ?

    if you have a computer , you can connect your mobile to your desktop browser , and use desktop browser dev tool to check the mobile browser’s status for debug

    android phone can connect to both Windows and Mac , but iPhone needs to use Mac

    also you can use desktop browser dev tool to mimic mobile device view in which you don’t need to connect your mobile to computer.

    if you don’t have access to computer or not sure how to do , please reach us by mail to support at litespeedtech.com , our staff can coordinate the check with you.

    @qtwrk

    Thank you for your quick reply.

    I checked desktop dev tools for the mobile browser (very useful feature indeed!) and quickly could see no errors reported.

    Instead the problem is caused by empty webp-images created through LS/quic.cloud.

    Webp-versions of image files are loaded as sources, but as I click the files they appear empty: “The ressource has no content” cf. screenshot here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IYIB3QOJOxjc0dFx4f4zIz6kFasaSxHY/view?usp=sharing

    Jpeg and png on the other hand were loaded without problems.

    I therefore set (Image Optimization -> Image Optimization Settins ->) Image WebP Replacement to OFF, purge all, and it solved the problem.

    I’m still curious as to what causes the initial issue? Conflict with Elementor?

    Apparently, regular jpegs were served on Woo-pages hence the images there showed correctly, while webp-images were served on Elementor-built pages (as well as dropdown menu.)

    I mark this thread as solved, although I of course would like to make use of the webp-feature at some point – but it’s not critical atm.

    Kind regards,

    Simon

    from the report , it shows you are using LiteSpeed ADC , if that is true , the webp vary rules need to be added into ADC’s vhost rewrite rule tab , which from your description , and if I understand it right , that’s the screenshot of Safari browser , safari only supports webp on 14+ , if webp cached page is sent to safari 13 , it will be that case

    Thread Starter oldteaseller

    (@oldteaseller)

    @qtwrk sure enough, it’s a 12.5.4 vers. safari browser on iPhone. Thanks.

    How does one add webp vary rules into ADC’s vhost rewrite rule tab?

    And do you know why only some select images were being served as webp-versions? According to the ls settings, all images should be replaced by webp if possible.

    it’s like this

    but I don’t know if you have permission to access to this if it’s not your own server

    for webp replacement , there is certain checks and limitation
