How to Get Rid of /?S at End of URL’s in Google Index

  • This has been a frustration for me for some time, which I would really like to resolve.

    Doing a Google search for indexed urls reveals there are many urls that have what appears to be a search query at the end of some of the indexed urls. At the end of .com/ there is a question mark followed by an s= and then whatever word. For example, it may look like this:

    www.myurl.com/?s=word

    How do I fix this? Thanks.

    Still getting these showing up with urls ending with things like:
    /?s=word+word

    Or like what I posted in the first post here. Anyone have any ideas how I can avoid these coming up? They’re showing up like in Google Analytics, like they’re queries that someone has searched for, yet the urls don’t exist on my site. Then they end up showing up in my Google Webmaster tools dashboard.

    Anyone? Would like to get this resolved. Thanks again.

    Okay, here’s a detailed example of what’s occurring, but it appears it hasn’t occurred for all my posts, just some.
    The permalink structure I had established for my site is like this example:
    https://www.linkandblog.com/2007/06/23/improve-bounce-rate/
    But, Google has some of my posts indexed with weird urls, so for the post I have shown above, it’s currently indexed like this:
    https://www.linkandblog.com/?s=panicking

    The word, ‘panicking’ happens to be in that post, but for the life of me I cannot figure out why this is happening. To my knowledge, this didn’t occur until after I upgraded from 2.7.1.

    And, ‘panicking’ is exactly what I’ve been doing over this because I tried to get this resolved prior to Googles pr update the first of April, but failed to by then, so my pr is stagnant now. So, now I’m hoping to get it resolved prior to the next one, because I lost pr some time ago, and I’m hoping to fix it to gain it back soon. Thanks!

    I’m not a SEO expert (and have never in my life met one, or found out what that means ?? ) but to me your sitemap.xml looks fine and I can’t locate in Google an example of that for inurl:https://www.linkandblog.com (but my Goodle Fu may be lacking).

    If you are using Google Webmaster tools and your blog is free of hacks, then the problem should resolve itself on Google.
