• Hi,

I have downloaded the latest version of the WooCommerce PayPal Payments Plugin ( 1.5.0) and in spite of continually ensuring I have the most up to date plugin, an error which was supposed to be solved in 1.4.0 is still persisting.

Customers from countries who do not require ZIP/POST codes e.g. the UAE or Ireland etc and will therefore not have a zipcode field when they chose their country (UAE) and Ireland where it is optional on the checkout are experiencing this error:

[UNPROCESSABLE_ENTITY] The requested action could not be performed, semantically incorrect, or failed business validation. https://developer.paypal.com/docs/api/orders/v2/#error-MISSING_SHIPPING_ADDRESS

I have contacted PayPal and highlighted this error and they simply say there is nothing they can do as this was addressed in a previous plugin update- this was never an issue in the previous PayPal gateways. Can someone please advise on what to do/when this will be fixed as I am unable to process orders from countries where the zipcode is not necessary as this is simply resulting in an error message when it is trying to communicate with PayPal.

    Amna

    Hi @amnosandwich,

The PayPal API response is the same, but the cause for it is a different one to what was fixed in 1.4.0. Previously it was possible to trigger the response by leaving certain checkout fields empty, which will no longer work.
This particular behavior regarding countries without postcodes has not been reported before, but I can reproduce it and our developers will investigate as soon as possible.

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

    Hello @amnosandwich

Yesterday we have released a version of our plugin that contains a fix for the issue you are experiencing. Could you please update the plugin and check if this was resolved?

Please let us know if it has been resolved so we can close this thread.

    Kind regards,

    Hi there,

Thank you for this- i have updated the plugin and attempted an order using a UAE address and the same issue has occurred with the same message.

I have attached it again via email- really frustrated as not sure how this is going to be resolved.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Having attempted this with other countries, which also does not require a postcode, Ireland, Qatar, Saudi Arabia – the same message:

[UNPROCESSABLE_ENTITY] The requested action could not be performed, semantically incorrect, or failed business validation. https://developer.paypal.com/docs/api/orders/v2/#error-MISSING_SHIPPING_ADDRESS

Is continuing to show up- for instance, if I try to checkout with PayPal the window appears for a few seconds, attempting to load but fails and the above message shows up.

    Hello @amnosandwich

yes, unfortunately, I have concluded the same after testing the new release for this bug. It is strange that we tested this pre-release to be working, not sure if something went wrong when this fix was merged in the release package.
I also just tested the package that was provided to me for testing on this issue before release and that does fix the issue.

Hopefully, we can get this sorted soon. I have opened a new ticket to get this figured out and have added this thread to it again so we will keep you apprised.

    Kind regards,
    Joost

    Hi,

Is there any update on the plugin? We have been extremely patient however the length of time its taking and the sales are unable to conduct is very concerning.

    Thanks,

    Amna

    Hello @amnosandwich

I understand your message, this was supposed to be resolved in the 1.6.0 release, however, at the last moment our dev team found out that the fix we had in place was causing other conflicts and had to remove the fix. They are now working on a new solution that should be included in the next release.

Probably this will not give you the answer you require, but we can’t force this out, since we need the buy-in of our partners PayPal and WooCommerce in order to get this released. Sorry that this is taking longer than any of us was expecting.

    Kind regards,
    Joost
