• Hi Author,

We have installed ffmpeg on the server and the plugin seems to find it (we had to change the path).

We have a WP + BuddyPress and rtMedia (also tested with MediaPress), which lets users upload videos, but dont generate a thumbnail on the video.

We installed this plugin, but the thumbnails are also not automaticly generated by the video.

I’m not familiar with rtMedia but it seems like it manages media in a different way than WordPress does by default. If videos are not visible in the regular WordPress Media Library and are instead managed in a separate rtMedia section, my plugin won’t know where to find the videos in order to make the thumbnails.

    Hi Kyle,

    Many thanks for your reply.
When I check the Media tab in the dashboard i see the media listed there.
When I click on one of the videos I see the following urls:

    /wp-content/uploads/rtMedia/users/14

It looks like there are all visible in the Media of WP Dashboard, but are saved in users/<id>

Are you able to manually generate thumbnails for those videos? Sometimes with user uploads the problem is my plugin doesn’t get the message that a new video has been uploaded.

    Hi Kyle,

When I go to Media > Library and select the video, i see the options go generate a thumbnail, and this works. Is there a way to fix/modify it so it recognize upon user uploads? Or perfroms a automaticly check each hour to see if new files are uploaded without a thumbnail and generates is?

Somehow still on BuddyPrees > User Profile > Media > Videos, I dont see the thumbnail created.

How do you upload a video in buddypress with this plugin?

    Hi,

Users can upload by going to their profile, select Media and then upload.

Unfortunately, if the manually-created thumbnail doesn’t show up in BuddyPress then it’s not going to work well even if my plugin was able to automatically generate a thumbnail on upload. I suspect that there are too many customizations involved and I just don’t know anything about the way the rtMedia plugin works.
